Accountant
is responsible for maintaining the general ledger throughout the monthly cycle. They perform critical accounting functions under general supervision, including journal entries and reconciliations, ensuring adherence to industry standards and the integrity of all financial information. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) requirements, evaluating emerging GAAP and regulatory changes, and recommending updates to maintain compliance and accuracy. The Accountant assists with annual budgeting, audits, and process improvement initiatives. *Employees are expected to adhere to all rules and regulations applicable to this position, including but not limited to all policies and procedures pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act. Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Monthly Accounting Responsibilities
Prepaid and Fixed Asset Management Investment Accounting Payroll entries Miscellaneous accruals Month-end close entries G/L Reconciliation
Quarterly/Annual Responsibilities
Regulatory reporting – 5300 Call report; FR2900 Property tax filing/payments Federal Tax Reporting
1099-Misc Reports Backup Withholding Form 945

Financial Audit assistance
Provide support for accounting systems including Prologue, Certify, Frontier, and others Required SkillsKnowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
Education and Credentials
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
Experience
1 year of professional accounting experience or Internship preferred Prior experience in the financial services industry preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations Proficient with Microsoft Excel This position requires a self-starter with the ability to work independently Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in a professional manner when dealing with employees, members, vendors and company contacts Ability to follow the core values of honesty, integrity, mutual respect, pride and ownership
