Job Description
Position Overview
A collaborate leader that excels in making sure finished designs meet the technical requirements to undergo production. Manage the process of developing a product or enhancing existing products to meet customer expectations effectively. This role will provide direction in development functions required to bring new products to market, provide technical expertise and fashion direction that includes product fit, spec and measurement direction meeting market trends. Supports the development of new product concepts that will translate well into the Charles River Apparel brand.
Responsibilities:
· Within PLM develop tech packs, technical flat sketches, measurement sheets, design details, fabric and trims.
· Measure and evaluate proto samples, fit samples and size set samples and graded patterns.
· Develop graded specs with reference to construction, POMs, BOMs, color, and trim changes.
· Release tech packs and specs to Suppliers to initiate Product Development.
· Mange all packages from overseas incoming samples, trims, lab dip and fabric qualities to maintain a tracking sheet for all development styles adhering to the Time & Action Calendar.
· Manage Tech Design process from initial Design hand-off until final production is in-house, with a clear communication to all team members where the product is within this process
· Manage all dual sourced product, communicate out to team members where approvals are within the process
· Manage all PP and Red Tag samples
· Maintain daily communication with suppliers involved in manufacturing products.
· Collaborate with Customer Service to answer all consumer product questions.
· Support Production in “trouble shooting” and problem solving.
· Support preparation of test samples for all Wear Testing Trials for upcoming collection.
· Support the team in developing performance metrics, targets with monthly business reviews and reports.
Requirements:Requirements:
o College degree in Apparel Design and/or Technical Design preferred.
o 5+ years of experience working in a technical design role with some design experience.
o Computer Skills – Outlook, MS office, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign.
o Proficient working in a PLM system.
o Strong pattern making and fabric knowledge necessary.
o Keen eye for color variations and knowledge on how to resolve color inconsistencies.
o Knowledge of garment testing standards and protocols.
o Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
o Strong written and verbal communication skills.
o Strong analytical skills.
o Ability to influence cross-functionally.
