Description of Work

The NC Wildlife Resources Commission Mission Statement is to conserve North Carolina's wildlife resources and their habitats and provide programs and opportunities that allow hunters, anglers, boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy wildlife-associated recreation. The Commission is the regulatory agency responsible for the enforcement of N.C. fishing, hunting, trapping and boating laws. The NCWRC employs 700 full-time staff across the state, including wildlife and fisheries biologists and technicians, wildlife law enforcement officers, wildlife educators, communication specialists, customer service, information technology, and administrative professionals.

The Office of Communications, Marketing and Digital Engagement (CMDE) for the Wildlife Resources Commission engages North Carolina's citizens and visitors in understanding their connections to the state's natural resources, particularly its wildlife resources, and to the Wildlife Resources Commission. The primary function of the Office of Communications, Marketing and Digital Engagement is to impart messaging designed to facilitate the conservation of the state's natural and wildlife resources, their habitats, and the environment humans share with these resources. The Office provides targeted support for efforts to increase the agency's constituency base, promote specific activities and events, maintain and enhance corporate and partnership support of agency programs, and develop marketing initiatives to accomplish the agency's mission. The office is directly responsible for all agency's communications and marketing efforts, including internal and external communication, video development, photography, agency websites, social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo, NextDoor and LinkedIn), graphics design and the agency's magazine, Wildlife in North Carolina.

Information and Communications Specialist I)

for our Office of Communications, Marketing and Digital Engagement (CMDE).

The Graphic Designer is responsible for development of web and print based graphic design. This graphic design work increases awareness of and generates support for the agency and for wildlife conservation; broadens awareness of the agency's polices, science-based programs and collaborative partnerships; and increases the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences.

The Graphic Designer: Performs a range of graphic design used in promotional, instructional and educational materials (digital and print) for the agency's website, social media, electronic newsletter, brochures, banners, posters, invitations, teaching aids and exhibits; Consults with agency staff to determine project parameters such as purpose, audience, conceptual focus, and scope and concept of cost options; and Collaborates with all WRC divisions and other members of the CMDE team. The schedule associated with this position is Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (40 hours/week). This position also allows for a 1-day per week telework schedule. This position will be based out of our Wildlife Resources Commission Headquarters in Raleigh, NC (Wake County).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified Applicants must possess:

Experience in Graphic Design; Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office; and Technical proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
