Job Description Position Summary The Communications & PR Assistant Manager plays a key role in supporting the development and execution of domestic and international public relations initiatives. This role will monitor and report on media coverage, track industry news and trends, write and deliver press materials including press releases, key messaging and pitches, host media on the ground in Aspen and Snowmass, and manage PR-related administrative tasks, all while maintaining a proactive, creative and results-driven approach. This position collaborates cross-functionally across marketing, hospitality, mountain operations and all of Aspen One’s business units, as well as with representatives from outside organizations in the planning and coordination of self-directed PR projects. This position reports to the Director of Communications. Essential Job Functions Host media in-resort, including developing itineraries, working with internal and external partners to develop full-scope hosted visits Provide administrative support, including maintaining media lists, handling press inquiries and managing calendars Develop press materials including press releases, media pitches, announcements, key messaging, media kits, briefing books and more Provide media and key messaging support for company events and initiatives, assist in creating PR plans and strategies Maintain ongoing pulse of media landscape including local, regional, and national markets as well as across relevant beats such as travel, outdoor & ski, sustainability, business. Build and maintain targeted media lists, and nurture relationships with key reporters Work proactively on media outreach and pitching. Represent the company’s voice when working with media Track media coverage and compile monthly reports on PR campaign performance. Monitor and analyze effectiveness of PR campaigns and regularly communicate insights to management Collaborate and support work with external stakeholders including local and state tourism organizations, external PR agencies, local businesses, event partners, professional societies. Serve as project manager support for the PR team, helping to funnel requests in and work cross-functionally with other teams to maintain PR support across the business Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing or related field required 3-5 years of experience in the field of public relations, communications or relevant marketing Knowledge Skills and Abilities Strong project management and organizational skills, proactive ownership of projects and tasks Working knowledge of media platforms, industry news outlets and trends, how to pitch media Experience working successfully in teams or as part of a cross-functional initiative Experience working with Microsoft Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel Strong copywriting and editing proficiency, familiarity with AP style Communications expert with skills in written and oral communication Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders across a variety of projects Finely tuned listening skills Ability to develop and maintain lasting media relationships Skiing ability preferred. Availability to work evenings and occasional weekends during busy season hosting periods. Potential for domestic and/or international travel based on team operations. Work Environment and Physical Demands Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements. No adverse or hazardous conditions.
