is a sustainable and ecological landscaping business that transforms metropolitan landscapes, both public and private, across the region by restoring their natural habitats. Our designs and processes are underscored by science, both existing literature and our own measurement system called Wildr. With our focus on the restoration of suburban landscapes, which has traditionally been marginal in conservation efforts, we’re trailblazing a new approach to landscape design to convert yards, campuses, commercial, and public spaces into beautiful native habitats. We're seeking an ambitious Design Director to join our executive team and help drive our bold mission: rewilding 60 million acres of private land across America. This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing company where your design leadership and environmental passion can create lasting impact. If you're ready to grow with and shape Plan It Wild, please consider joining us. Responsibilities/Duties
Reporting to the COO and VP, refine and elevate our existing design processes to establish a scalable functional system for PiW that supports our growing client base of both institutional and residential customers. Set up the framework, structure, and processes that support design at Plan it Wild, including templates and standardization for consistency, quality, and efficiency. Establish research practices and protocols that feed into design and include site assessments, especially botanical, field data collection, inventory of the literature, and research on style, innovation, and best practices. As part of the executive team, participate in strategic planning, adaptive management, business modeling, and the development of long-term relationships with clients that yield up-selling as well as connections to other clients and/or additional landscaping work. Development of business and development proposals and design recommendations for both corporate, institutional, as well as residential clients. Manage and develop our EcoReports (our version of client proposals). Produce CAD-based designs or sketches that highlight and advance Plan it Wild’s signature brand and standards of ecological landscaping. Oversee consultants and potentially staff. Develop and maintain work plans, timelines, budgets, contracts, specifications, and invoicing. Produce marketing material as needed for our relationships with existing and future clients. Respond to clients' design issues and concerns and coordinate any additional services. Qualifications/Requirements
Degree in landscape design/architecture, ecology or related natural sciences, urban planning, or other related fields, or 3 years of experience. Proficiency in CAD, Indesign, Canva, Adobe Suite, and ARC GIS. Horticultural, botanical, and/or ecological experience, with familiarity of Eco Region 59g/c native plants and natural habitats.
