POSITION: Visual Design and Media Specialist

LOCATION: On-campus located in Tiffin, OH

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Digital Designer is pivotal in delivering innovative and visually stunning digital experiences. This position involves designing digital content focused on student recruitment that enhances the user experience and promotes our brand identity.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for a digital design print and video media specialist can vary based on specific goals and projects.

For Digital Design:

  • Project Completion Rate: Percentage of projects completed on time.
  • Client Satisfaction Score: Feedback ratings from clients on completed designs.
  • Revision Rate: The number of revisions requested by clients per project indicates clarity in initial design briefs.
  • Design Efficiency: Time taken to complete design tasks versus estimated time.
  • Engagement Metrics: For digital designs (like social media graphics), track likes, shares, and comments.
For Print Media:
  • Print Quality Score: Assessment of print outputs based on clarity, color accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
  • Cost per Print Job: Average cost incurred for each print project.
  • Turnaround Time: Average time from design approval to final print delivery.
  • Waste Reduction: Percentage of material waste during the printing process.
  • Client Retention Rate: Percentage of clients who return for additional print projects.
For Video Media:
  • Video Completion Rate: Percentage of viewers who watch the video to the end.
  • View Count: Total number of views across all video platforms.
  • Engagement Rate: Likes, shares, comments, and overall interaction with the video content.
  • Production Time: Average video production time from concept to final edit.
  • Return on Investment (ROI): Revenue generated from video content compared to production costs.
General KPIs:
  • Portfolio Growth: Number of new projects added to the portfolio over a specific period.
  • Skill Development: Number of new tools or techniques learned and applied in projects.
  • Collaboration Efficiency: Feedback from team members on collaboration and communication effectiveness.
Requirements

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
  • Collaborate with all departments to execute print and video, coordinate promotions, and increase recruitment outreach.
  • Create and assist with content posted to the websites as consistent, accurate, and relevant by collaborating with university constituencies and their department content authors.
  • Create videos as needed, including program and unique recruitment event videos for recruitment.
  • Assist with photograph/video of headshots, campus events, students, staff, and faculty, for use in recruitment communications.
  • Provide recruitment content for the TU mobile app.
  • Generate creative ideas and concepts for digital projects, including print assets, emails, and digital ads.
  • Create compelling visual designs that capture and promote the desired brand message.
  • Design and develop interactive elements such as animations and interactive infographics.
  • Ensure designs are adaptive and responsive across all devices and platforms.
  • Maintain and develop comprehensive design systems and guidelines for consistency.
  • Collaborate to conduct A/B testing on design elements to optimize user engagement.
  • Manage digital content using Content Management Systems (CMS) when required.
  • Ensure all designs are aligned with the brand's style and visual guidelines.
  • Work closely with marketing teams, developers, and other designers to produce cohesive designs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR THE JOB

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, digital media, or a closely related area is preferred.
Experience
  • A minimum of two years experience in photography, videography, and production is preferred.
  • Proficient in graphic design and prototyping tools like Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision, and Figma.
  • Basic coding knowledge is useful for understanding the structural requirements of digital designs.
  • Ability to understand and communicate brand ethos through digital designs.
  • Innovatively solve visual challenges with a strategic mindset.
  • Work effectively with teams across different departments, such as marketing, UX, and development.
  • Keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy in design outputs.
  • Efficient in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be flexible and available to work weekends.
