POSITION PURPOSE:

This position focuses on identifying and securing funding sources specifically for health and wellness initiatives in the district. This includes projects aimed at reducing youth vaping, substance misuse prevention, mental health support, and promoting overall student well-being. The role involves leading the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals aligned with the district's health and wellness goals, as well as monitoring awarded grants from acceptance through completion and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Research and identify funding sources specifically geared toward health, wellness, and prevention efforts, including federal, state, and private grants focused on youth substance abuse prevention, mental health support, and wellness education.
  • Coordinate with the district's Health, Counseling, and Wellness teams to assess needs and align grant opportunities with health and wellness initiatives, including anti-vaping campaigns, mental health resources, and community wellness outreach.
  • Develop proposals to secure available funding opportunities, ensuring they align with objectives aimed at reducing substance use and promoting mental health among students.
  • Provide technical assistance in developing grants and contract proposals with a focus on health and wellness.
  • Monitor and report on awarded grants, ensuring compliance with requirements specific to health-related funding sources, including spending and programmatic goals.
  • Assist schools and departments with contract and procurement processes related to wellness initiatives, including purchase orders and requisitions for health education materials.
  • Coordinate with district and school staff to support program performance in health and wellness initiatives funded by grants.
  • Process grant amendments for any programmatic changes related to health and wellness that may occur.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submissions of district entitlement and other wellness-related grants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field.
  • Ability to demonstrate a proven track record of securing new funding opportunities.
  • Excellent written communication skills, as well as attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Proficiency in research, interpreting and analyzing data.
  • Motivated with the ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and detail-oriented skills, with a focus on health-related funding initiatives.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree in an appropriate field.
  • Familiarity with K-12 educational health programs and previous experience securing major health-related grants.
  • Experience with and knowledge of K-12 education.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a successful grant writer.
  • Previous federal and state grant application, submission, and award of funds.

WORK YEAR: FULL-TIME

SALARY: $70K-$75k
