We are seeking a dynamic Communications professional with 7-10 years of experience and a specialty in both paid and earned media to join our Peet’s team. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator who understands the intersection between earned and paid media. You have participated in the evolution of the media landscape and understand how the media monetization model has shifted. You are an expert in integrated planning and are able to devise and oversee strategies that elevate Peet’s core brand and products in a meaningful way with our target customers.
This is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid work schedule, based in Emeryville, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
Management: Manage in-house and external PR, Social and Paid agencies ensuring a cohesive communications strategy across internal and external channels.
Media: Maintain strong relationships with target media and develop annual media relations strategy focused on top-tier placements in print, broadcast, and digital channels.
Social:
Lead comms strategic plan and execution for social media activation on owned channel media handles.
Manage third party tools to gather consumer insight, inform paid media plans and drive on-platform consumer engagement.
Brief agency and studio on content creation for online assets to support brand and channel (retail, CPG) plans.
Work closely with channel leads through IMC process to develop & deploy integrated plans.
Paid:
Lead paid media planning and buying across social, search, display and programmatic platforms. Lead strategy of creative content plans for paid media.
Utilize SEM, SEO, GDN, affiliate marketing and 3rd party data sources.
Create performance marketing plans, starting with insight-driven target audience segments, A/B testing, recommended KPIs, performance benchmarks, goals, channel strategies and utilization of ad products and platforms that will deliver maximum ROAS.
Drive growth of the paid and analytics team internally: identify and fill key roles, capabilities and third-party tools required to deliver best in class paid media campaigns and regular performance reporting for clients.
Work closely with integrated strategy, creative strategy and design teams to ensure development of content and media strategies work together to be as effective as possible.
Collaboration: Collaborate with Executive Team, Brand Leadership Team, PR & Social agency and ESG/Coffee team to forward brand initiatives and consumer storytelling opportunities through cross functional collaboration.
Creative: Collaborate with in-house and agency teams on seasonal announcements for major PR & Social activations as well as developing brand acts or other big brand moments.
Crisis & Issues Management: Drive strategy and support crisis and reputation management issues with in-house and agency teams.
Reporting: Oversee the creation and distribution of insightful weekly and monthly performance reporting deliverables for Brand Leadership and Executive teams.
Budget: Oversee annual PR, Social and Paid budget finding efficiencies as needed.
Requirements:
7-10 years of experience across PR and paid media planning
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to manage key stakeholders and respond to PR needs in a timely manner
Strong media relationships across food & beverage and business verticals
Strategic thought leader with experience in integrated comms & content strategy
Experience managing and/or working directly with PR, Social & Paid agencies
Agency experience a plus

The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
