Highbury Defense Group is seeking a talented and versatile technical writer to join our team.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background and will develop documentation support to PMW/A 170 to include System Technical Manuals, Quick Reference Guides (QRGs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Software Delivery Documents (SWDs), User Logistics Support Summaries (ULSSs), and other technical documentation as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Write, edit, and maintain clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical documents such as:
    • Comprehensive user manuals for the fleet, including system/equipment descriptions, operating procedures, Remove & Replace (R&R) procedures, guides, troubleshooting, and parts information
    • Procedural QRGs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both the fleet and Depot
    • Software procedures
    • Engineering change and software update procedures for In-Service Engineering Agents (ISEA)
  • Work closely with engineers, developers, logisticians, supply support representatives, and technical leads to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into user-friendly documentation.
  • Establish documentation frameworks and best practices to ensure content is consistent, organized, and up-to-date. Continuously improve documentation processes.
  • Tailor documentation to suit different audiences, including engineers, developers, end-users (i.e., the fleet), and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide on-demand documentation support to customers and internal teams for troubleshooting, deployment, and best practices.
  • Review technical content for accuracy, clarity, and coherence. Incorporate feedback from engineers and end-users to improve documents over time.
  • Conduct thorough proofreading and editing of technical materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and technical precision.
  • Create and maintain Technical Manual records in Model Based Product Support (MBPS).
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communication, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years of experience as a technical writer in an engineering or technical field.
    • Strong understanding of engineering principles, concepts, and terminology.
    • Experience writing for both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Proficiency in writing clear, concise, and user-friendly technical documentation.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience with specific technologies relevant to the industry (e.g., Technical Manual Life Cycle Support using MBPS, Engineering Design Process, System Operability Verification Test (SOVT), Pre-Installation and Test Check-Out (PITCO), Fault Logic Diagrams).


Salary at Highbury Defense is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $85,000-95,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Highbury Defense's total compensation package for employees.
