Job Description
Manhattan based home product company specializing in bath and kitchen hardware is seeking a Packaging Designer to join their growing team. The Packaging Designer will be responsible for creating innovative and eye-catching packaging designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the packaging materials meet industry standards. We are looking for someone highly motivated, organized and fast paced with both technical & product photography design experience. Must be able to work under tight deadlines while paying attention to details.
Please note, this is a hybrid position. You must be currently living in the New York Metropolitan area and able to commute to our office in midtown Manhattan. No exceptions.
Responsibilities:
- Create new artwork and mechanical die lines as needed for new products.
- Work with design team while managing time lines for projects.
- Photograph home products to be used in bath, kitchen, bedroom and other room scenes.
- Create new lifestyle images.
- Prepare artwork and mechanicals for print production.
- Keep track of packaging samples.
- Communicate with overseas factory.
- Keep a proper archive of mechanical files in Dropbox for easy access and navigation for other team members to use.
- Stay up to date with industry trends.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Graphic Design or a related field from a recognized university or college.
- Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, and Acrobat.
- Minimum 4 years experience in retail packaging (home product/hardware packaging is preferred).
- Minimum 4 years photography skills for lifestyle images is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of packaging design principles and trends.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while taking direction.
- Excellent communication, organizational and presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with licensing is a plus.
