Reporting directly to Editor-in-Chief, Programs (EIC), the Program Design Assistant is responsible for design, printing, and distribution of all Artistic programs and inserts not included in the weekly program books. The Design Assistant is also responsible for design, publication, and maintenance of the online program book.

Responsibilities
  • Primary function of this position is to design and lay out programs and inserts using Adobe InDesign, and occasionally Illustrator or Photoshop
  • Designs and prints 160+ concert programs, program inserts, Texts and
  • Translations pages, and other print pieces
  • Assembles, prepares, and confirms all concert program information with help from Artistic department staff
  • Reports directly to EIC, and coordinates with Assistant Program Book Editor
  • Typesets, edits, & proofs bios and other content with Assistant Editor and EIC
  • Maintains printing production schedule with local printing businesses
  • Creates and updates archive and index of small programs in 2025
  • Prepares and publishes online version of Program Book


Requirements

  • Skill with Adobe suite (primarily Indesign), or ability to quickly gain competence, is required.
  • Familiarity with basic principles of web design is recommended.
  • Sincere interest and curiosity about Western Art Music is required.
  • The ideal candidate will be an effective and well-organized communicator.
  • Extreme devotion to detail is required.
  • The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, and as part of a tight-knit team; weekend and evening work is occasionally needed.

Dates

June 9, 2025-August 25, 2025

Compensation

$13/hour plus housing provided by AMFS (valued at a minimum of $4.91/hour depending on location.) Overtime $22.22/hour

The overall non-local compensation for this position, including hourly pay ($13/hour) and housing ($4.91/hour), exceeds the 2024 Colorado minimum wage of $14.81.

Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
