The American Forest Foundation (AFF) unlocks the power of family forests as a climate solution while helping thousands of landowners care for their land and improve forest health. Through its Family Forest Carbon Program, AFF expands access to the voluntary carbon market for family forest owners from all walks of life while producing high quality forest carbon credits to help companies reach their net zero goals. The organization’s strategic direction seeks to enable family forests to capture and store one billion tonnes of carbon by 2050.


We do not do this alone. AFF works across a broad coalition of conservation partners, corporations, and policymakers to equip family forest owners with financial and technical support to implement sustainable forest management practices on their lands and activate their forests as a critical tool in the fight against climate change.

About this Role:


AFF’s Marketing Coordinator makes an important contribution to addressing global climate change and other critical conservation challenges. This position provides administrative and tactical support for the Family Forest Carbon Program’s marketing strategy.


This role will report directly to the Marketing Director, and will collaborate closely with another Marketing Coordinator, as well as a large team of program staff, organizational partners, landowners, and consultants.


Exhibiting creativity and adaptability, a keen orientation for details, and a sense of resourcefulness, the Marketing Coordinator is a collaborator who is passionate about conservation, interested in market-based strategies and is energized working in a diverse, fast-paced, and mission-driven team.


Responsibilities:

General Marketing Support

  • Assists with planning and executing marketing campaigns across various paid and owned media channels including traditional and digital tactics. (Tasks may include media research, creating media plan recommendations, coordinating media buys, supporting ad production and trafficking, and tracking performance.)
  • Responsible for maintaining team editorial calendar and making recommendations for new content, as well as coordinating development of content.
  • Writes social and blog content.
  • Designs simple social creative assets.
  • Performs minor updates marketing material using graphic design software.
  • Maintains AFF’s websites through content updates using our CMS.
  • Supports various organizational partnerships, and new partnership outreach and engagement.

Platform Support & Community Engagement

  • Supports Google and Meta advertising efforts and will assist with managing media agency responsible for day-to-day management of those platforms.
  • Monitors AFF’s social media advertising, thoughtfully responds to Facebook comments, and provides community insights to inform strategy and messaging.
  • Helps optimize and execute email marketing strategies, becoming an expert in AFF’s CRM platform (HubSpot).

Analytics & Reporting

  • Analyzes and reports on performance of landowner marketing efforts, focusing on digital / social channels.
  • Supports source attribution by maintaining directory of trackable URLs.
  • Analyzes and reports on key performance indicators throughout the landowner enrollment journey.
  • Become Marketing team go-to resource regarding organization’s analytics dashboard (via Tableau).

Events Support & Coordination

  • Partners with staff across organization to coordinate event presence, including managing event tracking documents, coordinating travel logistics, communicating with staff about event details and opportunities, and managing event material inventory.
  • Responsible for having new material printed and shipped to support event attendees.

Operational Support

  • Assists Marketing lead with budget management by keeping budget tracker up-to-date, processing invoices, and working closely with Finance team.
Requirements:

Candidate requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or relevant work experience in marketing or communications.
  • Ability to write compelling content that engages and connects with key audiences and conveys AFF’s messages in clear, actionable ways.
  • An eye for good design, coupled with technical graphic design skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to act both independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound work ethic, a sense of resourcefulness for getting tasks done, and strong initiative.
  • A creative mind that seeks to uncover and explore new ideas and opportunities.
  • A sense of curiosity and desire to develop marketing expertise.
  • Technical experience preferred, but not required, includes: HubSpot, or similar email management software; Tableau, or similar data analysis software; Contentful, or similar website CMS platform; Social media platforms, especially Facebook
  • Seeking a candidate with an inherent talent for writing and/or design. The AFF Marketing team can and will provide training for all other skills and responsibilities.
