We’re building Walmart Data Ventures from the ground up, and Design Research is critical to our foundation. Our data products serve millions of customers, suppliers, and associates across our unique user ecosystem. Join our mission of crafting world class data experiences with them, for them. We balance discovery with delivery to establish north stars while delivering incremental value to our customers.
As a Senior User Researcher, you’ll help define and lead research strategy and execution. We work hard to understand the people we’re designing for, and to deliver useful and usable products that delight. You’ll work across functions and stakeholder groups, contributing your deep knowledge of the User Research process to guide product direction toward successful outcomes for our users and our business. If you’re motivated by solving complex problems alongside some of brightest folks in the industry, then this is the opportunity for you.
What you'll do:
  • Lead strategic and tactical research projects, conducting studies from generative research to usability testing to inform and refine product direction and UX/UI.
  • Apply diverse research methods such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and ethnographic studies to gather deep insights into user needs.
  • Partner with product teams to identify research questions, design studies, and inform product strategy and design decisions.
    • Foster a culture of user empathy and human-centered design across the company to help teams prioritize user needs.
    • Identify and communicate high-value opportunities for teams to focus on and drive toward.
    • Facilitate workshops that translate research findings into strategic opportunities and actionable recommendations.
    • Present insights to the product team in formats that are both actionable and engaging.
    • Encourage non-research team members to actively participate in the research process, fostering a shared understanding of user needs.
Qualifications:
  • Expertise in a variety of research methods, such as usability studies, interviews, surveys, user testing, and ethnographic research.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and influence product strategy and design decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding of human-centered design and product development.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of professional research experience, or master’s degree with 3-5 years of professional research experience, or 7+ years of professional research experience.
  • Work samples that showcase your research experience and approach.
Perks and benefits: Beyond competitive pay, this role is eligible to receive incentive awards based on performance. Other great perks include 401(k) match, employee stock purchase plan, paid maternity and parental leave, PTO, multiple health plans, and much more.
