TECHNICAL PROPOSAL WRITER
NTT DATA, Inc. is currently seeking a Technical Proposal Writer to join our Public Sector Proposal Development Center (PDC) in McLean, VA.
The Technical Proposal Writer will support the development of Federal, State & Local, and Education proposals. The candidate will create original content, transform technical data into easily understandable material, and restructure existing templates into persuasive business cases that meet solicitation criteria. They should be capable of creating written materials that aid in the development, organization, and submission of top-notch proposals highlighting our abilities and value propositions. Additionally, they will collaborate closely with a dynamic team of business development professionals and subject matter experts in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and interviews them to better understand the solution and gather technical details. Translates technical data into understandable content for various audiences, including government agencies, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
- Works alongside capture and sales leads, solution architects, program managers, and proposal leaders to guide the development of proposal responses, ensuring that the technical concepts are clearly communicated in the written materials.
- Possess basic knowledge of specific IT Service offerings such as End User Compute Services; Network Services; Cloud and IT Infrastructure; Cloud Transformation and Hybrid Infrastructure Management; Data and AI; Applications Management, Development, and Modernization.
- Reviews RFPs, formulates content strategies, and drafts compelling documents to improve our chances of winning business.
- Participates in, and occasionally facilitates, storyboard sessions to express solutions, strategies, methods for executing tasks, experiences, key success themes, and unique differentiators.
- Assists with proposal processes by engaging in kick-off meetings and reviews, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to guarantee the production of high-quality responses.
- Assumes responsibility for the designated volumes, pushing progress to adhere to deadlines and creating high-quality written responses. Revises documents based on feedback from stakeholders and ensures that all final documents are compliant.
- Ensures that proposal content is accurate, complete, meets standards, and is compliant with RFP requirements and proposal deadlines.
- Edits, generates, and evaluates the current templates, case studies, brochures, thought leadership pieces, blogs, and similar materials.
- Creates and revises content for new business initiatives, such as presentations, proposals, research papers, and professional correspondence.
- Adheres to solicitation and NTT DATA style guidelines.
- Develops and implements process improvements to enhance proposal quality throughout the PDC.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Business, English, or technical field (or relevant work experience)
- 4+ years of professional experience in proposal writing (2+ years of experience in Public Sector proposal environment).
- 4+ years’ experience writing, editing, producing, and managing technical documents, reports, and presentations.
- Strong command of English grammar. Capable of drafting, composing, and refining technical papers and documentation.
- Proven ability to collaborate with clients to comprehend their business needs and convert them into technical solutions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
- Ability to demonstrate experience through a portfolio of writing and digital communications work.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet scheduled milestones.
- Ability to work out of the McLean, VA office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Flexibility in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules and priorities.
- Shipley-based training/experience preferred.
