Job Summary:

The Providence Center Peer Recovery Specialist Anchor Emergency Department will provide on-call recovery support services to patients and family members in the emergency departments of participating hospitals. When full or part time, this staff member is housed on Anchor Recovery Community Center, and also supports a caseload of members as a recovery coach.

Schedule: two positions, two schedules:
1) Monday - Friday, 8am to 4pm
2) Tuesday - Saturday, 8am to 4pm

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide on-call recovery coaching for patients and family members.
  2. Provide education and referrals to patients and family members.
  3. Respond to dispatcher contact right away and follow through with protocol for hospital contact and travel time.
  4. Obtain all necessary releases of information (ROI) as needed. Abide by all 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Federal and State Confidentiality laws and TPC policies.
  5. Complete all required documentation.
  6. Maintain active caseload of members who were seen in the Emergency Department (ED).
  7. Call assigned members for 10 consecutive days, or until contact is made and recovery planning has begun.
  8. Maintain positive and respectful communications with hospital staff, as guests in their system.
  9. Attend all trainings as assigned and maintain Relias trainings as per TPC policy.
  10. Additional duties and/or services as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Associates Degree or higher preferred. High School diploma or GED required.
  2. RI State certified Recovery Coach or plan to complete this within first year.
  3. Understanding of community resources and recovery oriented systems of care model.
  4. MUST have a valid driver’s license, registration and proper auto insurance.
  5. Knowledge of basic crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and some case management techniques required.
  6. Ability to act as an advocate for the needs of the parent is required.
  7. Candidate must demonstrate an understanding and belief in the recovery process.
  8. Must be a person with lived recovery experience, with minimum 2 years of continuous recovery.
  9. Must be 21 years old or older.
