Description of Position
Diablo Valley College is seeking passionate adjunct faculty members to teach classes in Art – Digital Media in one or more of the following areas: Game Design, Animation, Motion Graphics, Graphic Design, User Experience Design, User Interface Design.

Simply put, we need to create environments where our students achieve greater academic success, so much so that we close our persistent equity/opportunity gaps.

Duties and Responsibilities
Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules.
- Creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.
- Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work.
- Meeting with students outside of class.
- Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
- Maintaining accurate academic records.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of two years of professional industry experience in a Digital Media area such as Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, Game Design.
Desirable Qualifications
- Professional experience in Digital Media, such as Game Design, Graphic Design, UX/UI.
- Prior teaching experience or instructional experience in a related field.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software and tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, etc.
- Knowledge of current trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the fields of Game Design, Graphic Design, UX/UI.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students and collaborate with colleagues.
- Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and within the educational community.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a diverse student population and evolving industry demands.
