Job Description

STG’s Teaching Artist will conduct classes in dance, visual arts, directing, musical theatre, theatre workshops, and/or choreography. The Teaching Artist will be responsible for delivering content to students of various ages and disciplines. This position earns $75/hour teaching rate, and $25/hour for planning and lesson planning.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in one or more areas of arts discipline for the following: musical theatre, dance, choreography, visual arts, vocal interpretation, and/or character development.
  • Dedication to racial equity and social justice work in the arts.
  • Experience working with participants of various ages/grade levels.
  • Experience working with participants of various abilities.
  • Ability to direct large groups of participants.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Ability to adapt curriculum to meet participants’ needs.
  • Provide support to participants during sessions.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and co-teachers when necessary.
  • Have reliable tools (internet, transportation) to conduct sessions.
  • Provide curriculum in a timely manner to Project Manager.
  • Receptive to ongoing feedback and provide meaningful feedback to Project Manager with the goal of improving our programs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the arts and arts education.
  • 21 years and over.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong organizational ability.
  • Bonus: Ability to speak different languages, ASL.

Requirements

  • Must pass background check.
  • Adhere to STG Working with Minor Policies.
