NMEC Forensic Audio-Video Examiner

Location: Bethesda, MD

Full-time onsite/no telework.

TS/SCI with CI Poly required.

Peraton is seeking a Forensic Audio-Video Examiner with a strong commitment to teamwork to join our team in Bethesda, MD. This role will be responsible for providing video and audio evidence analysis in support of the National Media Exploitation Center (NMEC).

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Experience in digital image optimization, image/video authentication, metadata analysis, and identifying geolocations.
  • Experience in conducting audio enhancement of video and audio recordings to improve speech quality and establishing the integrity of video evidence through authentication and analysis.
  • Experience with multiple audio and video editing software suites, especially Adobe. Familiarity with common audio and video formats (AVI, MP4, MOV, MP3, WMA, WMV, WAV).
  • Experience interpreting file metadata, including XMP, and file structures for authentication and synthetic media detection.
  • Experience using industry-standard software for video and image authentication requests, including error level analysis and discrete cosine transform.
  • Experience with geometric-based techniques for measurements of objects in image and video files.
  • Experience applying geometrical analysis using shadows and reflections to determine potential editing in questioned image or video files.
  • Knowledge of current synthetic media and generative AI efforts, threats, and detection processes.
  • Ability to articulate expert opinions based on analysis and report findings.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with CI Polygraph required.
  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in signal optimization, audio enhancement, and authentication, with skills in languages such as Python and MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with current digital forensics processes and techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Video Association (LEVA), Certified Video Technician OR Certified Video Analyst.
  • International Association for Identification (IAI), Forensic Video Examiner.
  • DoD 8570 Compliant, IAT Level II.

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
