Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Audio Engineering in our Miramar, FL location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading team members and developing and establishing Audio Engineering objectives, timelines, and milestones to ensure the design and quality goals are met in accordance with the segment business’ plans.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
- Directs/supervises an Audio Engineering and Technician team by tracking, managing, and supporting the requirements and timelines of multiple projects through an appropriate combination of analysis and testing, guaranteeing the department priorities are met.
- Implements/executes department strategies and initiatives, as communicated by leadership, through development and adherence to process documentation to improve overall team efficiency/project success.
- Creates effective staffing plans by conducting annual performance evaluations, coaching team members, and participating in the hiring of new associates, to ensure the Audio Engineering team meets overall goals in accordance with the product development plan.
- Confers with Management to align and understand Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality and Development team’s needs, ensuring the Audio Engineering department is working effectively with these groups to determine feasibility, cost effectiveness of new product concepts and project success.
- Creates Audio Engineering processes to support successful departmental and interdepartmental functioning, setting the tone for cooperation while building a healthy cross-team relationship with other teams.
- Manages the development of team members by working closely with Human Resources to provide training, feedback, support and mentorship in all aspects of their progression through their technical career.
- Participates in design reviews, attends meetings and makes sure the information is shared with the team to guarantee good design practices are followed and the related goals are met.
- Participates in college campus interviewing and other recruiting activities.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree AND a minimum of 5 years experience in a technical role performing duties similar to the functions of this team OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes and documentation.
- Knowledge of Garmin’s product lines and customer needs.
- Demonstrated proficient broad technical knowledge and skills in various areas of Engineering (ex. analog, digital, RF, and/or DSP).
- Demonstrated detailed knowledge and experience with testing equipment and software tools for electronics design, testing and documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage technical human resources.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical engineering field.
- 10+ years industry experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering role.
