Cornell University Library (CUL) is seeking applications for the Veterinary Curricular Engagement Librarian. Reporting to the Director of the Science and Agriculture Libraries, the Veterinary Curricular Engagement Librarian will collaborate with the College of Veterinary Medicine to integrate information literacy competencies into the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Master of Public Health curricula and assess the outcomes. The librarian will develop instructional materials to support web-based, clinical, and traditional in-class learning for students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, the librarian will provide reference and research support services to veterinary and public health communities.

The Veterinary Curricular Engagement Librarian will strengthen existing academic partnerships at the College of Veterinary Medicine, which may include planning and implementing educational events at the Flower-Sprecher Library. Creativity and relationship-building are essential components of this job!

This individual will contribute to collection development via selection, evaluation, and fund management. As a core member of the Flower-Sprecher Library team, this individual will occasionally contribute to the front-line operation of library services. Successful candidates will have demonstrated learning or experiences in applying principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in instruction design and service development.

As a Research, Teaching, and Extension (RTE) faculty member, the Veterinary Curricular Engagement Librarian will engage in service, scholarship, and ongoing professional development to meet the requirements of promotion and reappointment at Cornell University Library.

Candidate Profile:

  1. A master’s degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited institution or an advanced degree in a relevant discipline. December 2024 graduates are encouraged to apply.
  2. No more than three years of relevant professional experience.
  3. A demonstrated interest in teaching and the ability to continuously learn and apply new pedagogical skills, technologies, and methods.
  4. A commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  5. A strong service orientation and the ability to creatively meet the needs of students, instructors, and the general public.
  6. Evidence of excellent organizational and written/oral communication skills.
  7. An ability to foster positive work relationships and collaborate in a team environment, as well as the willingness to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Background in STEM fields, such as Veterinary Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, or other Physical or Life Sciences.
  2. Experience in building professional connections and community.
  3. Experience in collection development and fund management.
  4. Knowledge of instructional design, teaching practices, or assessment principles that create effective, active, and inclusive learning environments.

This position is located in Ithaca, New York. The selected candidate will typically work on the Ithaca campus four days per week, with potential for a flexible work arrangement to allow remote work one day per week. The university reserves the right to modify or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.
