This vacancy is with the Department of Public Safety at the Hawaii Community Correctional Center in Hilo.

Salary: $3,484 to $4,409 per month (SR-11, Step C to I)

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform highly complex library support work.
  2. Supervise and participate in performing complex library support work.
  3. Perform substantive technical/paraprofessional library support work requiring knowledge of library sciences.
  4. Perform other related duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.


General Experience: One year of clerical work experience demonstrating knowledge of spelling and arithmetic; ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions; and compare words and numbers quickly and accurately.

Specialized Experience: Two years of progressively responsible experience in a library performing various library support activities (e.g., circulation work, stack maintenance, processing orders for library materials, etc.) and demonstrating knowledge of library terminology, practices, policies, and procedures.

Supervisory Aptitude: For certain positions, supervisory aptitude may be required.

Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.

Lift and Carry: This vacancy requires the ability to lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 80 pounds assisted.

Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement: As required by the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (PREA), Federal law states that an agency shall not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates and who has engaged in sexual abuse or similar activities.

Other Requirements: Applicants who are conditionally offered employment shall be subject to drug screening and an intensive background check.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS (PSLF) PROGRAM
The PSLF Program is intended to encourage individuals to work in public service by forgiving the balance of their federal student loans.
