Overview
The Princeton University Office of Communications is seeking a creative, driven, detail-oriented, and thoughtful Social Media Specialist to engage with Princeton’s followers on social media and produce compelling content that aligns with the University’s strategic initiatives. The Social Media Specialist must have excellent judgment and be sensitive to confidential matters.

Responsibilities
- Community Management: Monitor and actively engage in Princeton’s communities on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube. The Specialist will "like," "comment," "share," or engage with content that aligns with the University's mission and strategic initiatives.
- Content Planning and Execution: Work closely with the social media team to plan and pitch content for the social media editorial calendar that aligns with the University’s mission and advances strategic initiatives. Draft long-form and short-form content for channels. Leverage expertise in social media platforms, current trends, and best practices to inform content strategy and execution.
- Reporting: Work with the social media team to analyze data and glean insights to optimize future posts.
- Other: Other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years work experience, with 3 years of proven experience managing social media communities for enterprise-level or higher education institutions.
- Demonstrated experience in social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok, as well as an excellent understanding of algorithms and platform best practices.
- Strong writing and proofreading skills, with an impeccable eye for detail as it relates to writing and community management.
- Sensitivity to confidential matters is required; must be able to exercise excellent judgment and decision-making.
- Must be proactive, able to work independently, and know when to ask supervisors for direction or support.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to develop content for strategic and community initiatives.
- Familiarity with social media scheduling tools such as Hootsuite and/or Sprout Social is required.
- Ability to work nimbly in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented manner.
- Competent computer skills; basic knowledge of Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices and standards across each social media platform.
- Familiarity with Princeton or higher education is a plus.
- Experience with multimedia storytelling.
- Experience deploying paid social media campaigns.
