Social Media Coordinator
Details:
KATU/KUNP has an immediate opening for a creative Social Media Coordinator! In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day production of news content for our digital properties, KATU’s website, and social media platforms. This position will also work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk and Anchors, and other digital producers to create multi-platform content. You will determine the content and flow of our postings, work with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories, and develop content for any platform.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Solid news judgment
  2. Compelling and accurate writing skills
  3. Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  4. Capability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  5. Strong leadership and communication skills
  6. Ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily digital production
  7. Flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities
  8. Proficiency with non-linear, digital editing and newsroom systems, such as iNews
  9. Familiarity with strategies for various digital news platforms

Experience

• Must have at least some previous news digital content production experience at a commercial TV station, although the right entry-level candidate may be considered
• Experience creating and writing engaging, innovative posts for social media platforms
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task while also working independently when needed
• Must be open to learning from mistakes and receptive to guidance/feedback
• Ability to communicate and work well with digital and newsroom teams
• Capability to understand and engage with a variety of sources, including press releases, social media posts, government statements, and court rulings
• A Journalism degree is preferred
