Job Title: Protestant Contemporary Worship Gospel Service Music Director
Location: Luke AFB, AZ
Duties:
- Work closely with other choir directors and musicians, and pastoral team to continually upgrade the music library and repertoires used in the service.
- Demonstrate integrity through a moral, upright lifestyle consistent with Christian church teachings.
- Play their instrument of choice regularly on Sundays.
- Be responsible for all coordination, organization, preparation, and performance of the choir and congregational music selections as required to support the Contemporary Gospel Worship Service.
- Be present at least 20 minutes before each service or event starts.
- Assist the CWGS Chaplain in coordinating music by special groups and choirs who are invited as guests at Chapel-sponsored events and services.
- Participate in special services directed by the Wing, Deputy Wing, or CWGS Chaplain.
Education & Qualifications:
- The ability to read music and demonstrated accompaniment ability with the piano, organ/keyboard, or guitar.
- Contemporary & Gospel choir experience and familiarity with the flow of Contemporary & Gospel worship styles.
- A letter of recommendation from an ordained clergyperson is required as part of the application package, along with two additional letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant’s Christian character.
- At least five years of experience playing the piano, organ/keyboard, or guitar.
- Sound accompaniment skills, competent sight-reading ability, ability to play by ear, and capability to play music from various genres such as traditional, contemporary, praise, and worship, as affirmed in the applicant’s resume.
- At least two years of experience directing and playing for church choirs in traditional hymns, gospel, and contemporary Christian music.
- Versatility and capability of performing in front of groups of any size, as affirmed in the applicant’s resume.
- Ability to direct and/or play for worship services, special religious ceremonies, and funerals as scheduled by the Senior Faith Group Chaplains of all denominations, as affirmed in the applicant’s resume.
