Washburn University is hiring: Adjunct Music/Applied String Bass in Topeka

Position Title: Adjunct Music/Applied String Bass

Department: Music

Campus Location: Washburn University

Position Summary: Washburn University's Music Department is inviting applications for Adjunct Music/Applied String Bass.

Essential Functions:

1. Teach assigned courses which may include, but are not limited to: Applied String Bass, Applied Jazz Lessons, Performance Class, or courses within the candidate’s expertise
2. Perform in the Faculty Jazz Quartet
3. Recruit students and maintain a public profile as a performer and teacher
4. Assist with the Washburn University Coleman Hawkins Summer Jazz Camp and Jazz Festival

Required Qualifications:

1. Master's degree or higher in Music
2. Professional performance experience in both Classical and Jazz
3. Classroom teaching experience
4. The selected candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing teaching excellence at Washburn University, including a dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage students from all backgrounds
5. Official transcripts are required during the offer process

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Doctorate
2. University teaching experience
3. Experience recruiting students at the university level
