We are looking for an Associate Publisher with proven experience in research publishing, and a passion for managing relationships with society leaders and other stakeholders in the community. You will manage a portfolio of publishing partner relationships through contract lifecycles, including the renewal of partner contracts. You will also engage with external partners to ensure that our open access strategy is understood and mutual success is achieved through strategic alignment. As an integral member of our enthusiastic and knowledgeable team, you will work with intelligent, friendly, and highly skilled colleagues to execute plans and initiatives related to the publishing portfolio, focusing on identifying opportunities for development and strategic growth.
How you will make an impact:
- Manage a portfolio of ongoing relationships with publishing partners such as learned societies and universities through various communication channels and reporting tools.
- Ensure that partners are aligned with our strategies around open access and journal growth through excellent, regular communication.
- Undertake research and prepare materials to renew journal publishing agreements by supporting the development of business offers with senior colleagues and Finance; develop and deliver comprehensive renewal proposals; and collaborate with colleagues in the negotiation of contracts.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth service and promote title-level business growth.
- Promote partner compliance with journal process improvements through effective communication and persuasion.
- Identify and facilitate new business opportunities for partner titles with senior colleagues.
We are looking for people who:
- Possess a deep understanding of journal publishing and can articulate Research's overarching strategies.
- Maintain an awareness and understanding of industry trends in scholarly publishing.
- Have strong relationship and account management, negotiation, and influencing skills, and the ability to ensure internal and external alignment with strategic goals.
- Demonstrate strong collaboration skills working with cross-functional groups, effective communication with internal teams, and the ability to strategize and secure buy-in from external partners for necessary improvements.
- Retain the ability to independently solve problems and make informed decisions.
- Possess strong data analytics, financial acumen, time management, and presentation skills; an organized working style; excellent written and oral communication.

We are committed to fair, transparent pay, and we strive to provide competitive compensation in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. The range below represents Wiley’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the UK, Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
