About the Role:

The Lead Software Engineer, Web/SEO will work within a Web Platforms team and across the Dow Jones organization to improve SEO best practices and application performance. This role will report directly to the Director of Consumer Technology. It is a hybrid position based in our NYC office.

You Will:

1. Architect, develop, test, and deploy web applications for Dow Jones publications (WSJ, Barron's, MarketWatch, etc).
2. Contribute to the technical aspects of SEO, including website architecture, URL structures, meta tags, schema markup, and site speed optimization.
3. Develop and enforce SEO best practices and guidelines for the team, ensuring consistency and quality across all SEO efforts.

You Have:

1. In-depth knowledge of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and SEO best practices.
2. Understanding of performance optimization techniques and tools (e.g., Lighthouse, WebPageTest).
3. A strong technical foundation and experience building user interfaces and single page applications.
4. Experience writing internal documentation and system flow charts to keep the team informed.
5. 5+ years of experience working in a production environment; shipping code with regularity.
6. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
7. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate cross-functionally with designers, product managers, engineers, QA, and operations.
