POSITION

The Department of Cinema and Television Arts (CTVA) at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool.

We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered to teach Cinema, Television, and New Media within the following subject areas:

  • Critical Studies
  • Management
  • Production
  • Screenwriting

Special Note for Spring 2025 ONLY. Areas of need include:

  • Film and TV Marketing
  • Film and TV Distribution
  • Management in CTVA

This is a general recruitment for a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw from as needed. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A PhD or MFA degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Candidates should have prior teaching experience at the university level.
  • Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preference will be given to those with significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Preference will also be given to those with a record of professional writing and currency.

The Department of Cinema and Television Arts (CTVA) at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), offers a comprehensive curriculum and active learning environment to prepare students for meaningful careers in film and television.

The Bachelor of Arts degree includes a variety of courses in critical studies, management, production, and writing that examine many aspects of film and television. Professionally engaged faculty challenge students to expand their knowledge and skills through intellectual inquiry and creative projects.

The Master of Fine Arts degree is an intensive, two-year program focusing on writing for film, television, and other narrative media.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from mid-January through the end of May.

APPOINTMENT AND SALARY

All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Classification Range: $5,007 - $6,359 per month. Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $5,925 per month.
