Meteorcomm, a global telecommunications company that provides data communications solutions and services for the railroad industry, is looking for a UI Engineer II to support our growing Monitoring and Management Software team based out of the Renton area. We are looking for a talented UI Engineer II to create intuitive and easy-to-use user experiences. The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and artful design, possess superior UI skills, and be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, transforming them into elegant, intuitive, and functional user interfaces.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, highly detail-oriented software development environment using Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for product direction, visuals, and experience.
- Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering.
- Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user-friendliness to complex design roadblocks.
- Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
- Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive-level stakeholders.
- Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback.
- Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards.
- Sustain and support existing software already in production.
- Adhere to pre-defined coding standards and contribute to the review and enhancement of standards as needed.
- Practice Test Driven Development (TDD).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science preferred.
- 2+ years UI experience with proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, AngularJS, JavaScript, and jQuery for rapid prototyping.
- 2+ years experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps.
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wire-framing tools.
- Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction.
- Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders.
- 2+ years of experience using Object Oriented Programming (OOP) languages.
- Experience with using coding standards and employing code review procedures.
- Experience with producing technical designs and design documentation.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Agile Methodology a plus.
- Experience with test tools/harnesses and related software such as Cucumber, Ruby, Python, Google Test.
- Knowledge of Boost Standard Template Libraries.
