City of El Paso is hiring: Senior User Experience Developer in El Paso

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidate must have a Master's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field and three (3) years of programming experience.

Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent issued by another state by time of appointment.

Special Requirements: Applicants for positions assigned to the Department of Information Technology Services must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check within the first six months of appointment and maintain CJIS eligibility. CJIS requirements are related to system access and the following list of convictions and/or deferred adjudications will result in failure of the CJIS background check and disqualification and/or termination of employment; Felony convictions, Felony deferred adjudication, Class A or B Misdemeanor deferred adjudication, Class A or B Misdemeanor convictions, and/or open arrest warrants for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor) and family violence convictions.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Under direction, develop and maintain software and documentation.
2. Work closely with web developers, designers, data scientists, geographic information systems analysts and technicians to create engaging, functional, and aesthetically pleasing products.
3. Analyze, design, and develop software applications, including identifying target audiences and user needs through various research methods.
4. Design, develop, and implement digital experiences, producing high-quality prototypes, user flow diagrams, storyboards, and site maps.
5. Conduct usability testing of tools, apps, and other experiences.
6. Create stakeholder/client deliverables such as research summary reports, presentations, and visual maps (e.g., customer journeys, workflows, empathy maps, and dashboards).
7. Use, debug, test, and optimize existing software solutions.
8. Develop reactive applications for cross-platform experiences (Android, iOS, Web).
9. Work with a team of software developers to deliver products promptly.
10. Implement UX research techniques and testing activities to assess user behavior.
11. Perform related duties as assigned, including substituting for immediate supervisor or coworkers during temporary absences.
12. Assist supervisor with training new staff in programming standards and procedures.
