Senior Product Designer - User Centered Design
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience in user experience design, digital product design, usability testing, future visioning, and strategy development, and ability to lead and train others
- A portfolio of work demonstrating strong human-centered design capabilities across a diverse range of projects, with proven and demonstrable UX / UI design work
- Solid experience in creating high-fidelity designs specifications as part of hand-off to engineering teams
- Positive attitude and an intrinsic motivation to deliver the highest quality work supported by user data and evidence
- Experience working in a fast-paced professional service environment and managing ambiguity, working autonomously, keeping organized, and multitasking
- Proficiency in Figma
- Experience working in an Agile / Scrum development process
Responsibilities
- You will be involved in the product development process from ideation to launch, working closely with senior product designers, UX researchers, product managers, and engineers to deliver the most effective solutions for National Grid customers
- Own the product design effort for your area and work with design leads, design director, UX researchers and VP of Design to actively influence the overall strategy and accountability for desired product outcomes
- Work collaboratively with other designers, product managers, engineering / development teams, business analysts, and others in your product or feature area
- Partner with UX research and design leadership to bring insights to life through personas, customer journeys, insight-opportunity frameworks, system maps, user stories, scenarios, infographics and service models
- Translate insights and other customer problem statements to communicate visually through your UX and UI craft -- tangible concepts, storyboards, wireframes, interactive prototypes and actionable design flows
- Be able to present and defend your work
- Develop and ensure visual and behavioural consistency across our portfolio of products and platforms
- Execute the final visual design stage and produce full specification for hand-off to engineering
- Understand and ensure accessibility / inclusivity standards are adhered within web and mobile interactions
- Understand technical issues and constraints

As a Senior Product Designer in the US Customer business, your work will impact 20,000,000 energy customers across the Northeast as we create an energy future that is clean, fair and affordable. You’ll work on existing web and mobile products and net-new digital experiences from “zero-to-one” to help folks better manage their business and household energy, help pay their bills and get updates on outages among many other things. You may partner with other designers in the Electric and Gas businesses on related service experiences.
