Sr. Applied Scientist, Elemental Video Engine

Job ID: 2854331 | Elemental Technologies LLC

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

AWS Elemental is an Amazon Web Services company that combines deep video expertise with the power and scale of the cloud. We are looking for a Senior Applied Scientist focused on video compression and filtering to build advanced video processing functions.

As an Applied Scientist, you will research and develop methods to improve our compression efficiency, video filters, and enabling new use cases for our customers. You’ll work on cutting-edge compression technologies like AV1, HEVC, and high dynamic range video. You'll bring to production new broadcast-grade AI-based filters not possible before. You'll use AI to enable new applications for some of the largest media providers. You will work on a focused team with clear leadership and a direct ability to solve our customers’ problems and enable their success. Your work will have a broad reach. Your designs will process thousands of video streams around the world, and the final output will be enjoyed by millions of viewers.

  2. Design improved video filters, whether this be a scaler, deinterlacer, or a brand new perceptual filter.
  3. Enable new workflows for our customers, allowing them to extract information from their content.
