Job Overview:
We are seeking a talented and creative Visual Merchandiser to join our team at Local Eclectic. We are opening our first store in Chicago, and this role is crucial as we transition from being an online-only brand to multiple channels. As a Visual Merchandiser, you will be responsible for creating visually compelling and inspiring displays that showcase our unique jewelry collections and enhance the customer shopping experience. The ideal candidate will be creative, organized, and have prior experience working in retail. Your ability to understand our customer’s needs and translate that into visual storytelling will help drive sales and elevate the brand’s aesthetic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create Inspirational Displays: Design, implement, and maintain eye-catching and cohesive visual displays that highlight the beauty and craftsmanship of our jewelry collections, aligned with seasonal themes, trends, and promotional campaigns.
- Curate Product Stories: Develop creative “stories” by grouping and arranging jewelry pieces in a way that resonates with our customers.
- Optimize Product Placement: Ensure that jewelry displays are strategically placed to attract customer attention and promote popular products.
- Collaborate with the Product Team: Work closely with the product, planning, and marketing teams to communicate visual merchandising needs.
- Maintain Store Presentation: Keep all store displays and product presentations clean, organized, and up-to-date.
- Train Retail Staff: Work with the retail team to ensure they are well trained on how the jewelry should be displayed and organized.
- Understand Customer Preferences: Analyze customer behavior and shopping patterns to determine effective display strategies.
- Ensure Consistency with Brand Guidelines: Follow the company’s visual merchandising guidelines to maintain consistency in the store’s overall aesthetic.
- Monitor Inventory Needs: Regularly assess the inventory levels of products displayed and communicate with the planning team.
- Seasonal and Promotional Displays: Create seasonal, holiday, and promotional displays that draw attention and reflect current marketing initiatives.
- Report and Feedback: Provide feedback on display performance and suggest adjustments to maximize customer engagement and sales.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in retail, preferably within the fashion or jewelry industry, with at least 1 year in a visual merchandising role.
- Creativity & Design Skills: Strong sense of creativity, attention to detail, and an eye for design.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Customer Focused: Strong understanding of customer behavior and display creation.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate needs to teams and collaborate across departments.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move display materials, stand for long periods, and set up displays as needed.
Bonus Skills:
- Knowledge of the jewelry industry or luxury retail environment is a plus.
- Art background with an ability to create elements of displays.
- Basic photography skills for visual documentation and social media content.
- Proficiency with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) or retail display tools.
