ManTech is seeking a motivated, career-oriented Technical Writer to join our team in Herndon, VA. As a Technical Writer on our team, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing materials for related IT processes, plans, procedures, end user training and software documentation. This role requires substantial interaction with end users to understand their user experience and respond to user questions. Our ideal Technical Writer is highly autonomous, very detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and has experience supporting teams that work with large scale, enterprise class networks and systems.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Gather information from end users and work with software developers to answer user questions and to solve user issues.
- Obtain technical data from independent observation, research, review with technical staff members, and studies of published materials and existing documentation.
- Work with subject matter experts (SMEs), analysts, programmers, and other technical staff to obtain relevant information on technologies, methods, and standards of software, applications and systems.
- Interface with a diverse group of end users to understand and resolve user issues with the system.
- Document and track user issue resolution in ticketing system and leverage this data to develop FAQs and other knowledge management materials.
- Create, edit, and manage material prepared by other writers.
- Perform quality assurance on all materials.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a role that requires technical writing, such as a Technical Writer, Configuration Manager, Systems Engineer, Knowledge Manager, Instructional Designer, Technical Trainer or similar.
- 2+ years of experience with creating documents that effectively communicate highly technical material to non-technical audiences.
- Experience with successfully managing multiple projects and deliver on tight deadlines.
- Experience with successfully utilizing and leveraging effective questioning, research and analysis, written communication, verbal communication, and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn, comprehend and explain complex technical concepts, as demonstrated in past positions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence.
- Familiarity with the Assessment & Authorization Process.
Clearance Requirements:
Active/Current TS/SCI with polygraph.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
