Job Description:
We are looking to hire a full-time technical writer to assist with document research, creation, and management for our growing customer base including government agencies. This will require documentation with government standards.
The applicant will work with a dedicated project team consisting of system security engineers and policy analysts and will help to create policies and procedures for our client and their systems. The documentation will be guided by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-130 and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications (SP) 800-37, 800-53, and 800-137. Any documents created will be technical in nature but must be written in language that can be understood and followed by a layperson. The applicant must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications for word processing and document creation. Ideal candidates will have professional experience with document proofing and formatting. Active engagement in regular project planning and status meetings is required. Familiarity with guidance and controls established by the NIST, OMB, ISO, TIS, and CIS, is preferred but not required. A Federal background check will be required for access to proprietary documents and sensitive government information.
The role is on-site at our Tampa, FL headquarters.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create and edit formal policy, procedure, and training documents with technical guidance relating to a variety of systems and programs.
- Ensure that document verbiage is thoroughly researched, accurate, and precise, while remaining accessible to the layperson.
- Ensure that information is structured appropriately to maintain consistent standards and an intuitive flow within each document.
- Prepare images, graphs, charts, and other graphical representations to aid and enrich the reader’s understanding.
- Prepare for and actively participate in meetings, training presentations, and document reviews with client stakeholders.
- Manage document edits and approvals to comply with client deadlines.
