Job Overview
HII - Mission Technologies is seeking a Technical Writer to support a Modeling, Simulation, and Training team at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center, Nellis, AFB, NV. The individual’s primary role is to establish and support configuration management (CM) processes for JITTC-N to align with JSE Training Baseline (JTB) external capabilities and JITTC-N internally created capabilities. This position will create and update documentation, manuals, and SOPs to support JITTC-N’s mission of operating and maintaining the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) utilized for mission test and training.
What You Will Do
- Analyze proposed changes of product design to determine effect on overall product and system, coordinate modification records for management control, establish change orders and prepare for change authorization and documentation.
- Develop and maintain continuous documentation of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements in accordance with specific customer specifications.
- Work closely with various project teams to rapidly adapt and learn products and services to understand project requirements.
- Identify and implement configuration management processes, reviewing and recommending improvements to existing processes.
- Maintain a physical CM Library, developing comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards.
- Regulate the change process to ensure only approved changes are incorporated into program products.
- Support recurring Configuration Control Board, providing agendas and meeting minutes.
- Coordinate with customers and subcontractors to gather technical content and merge external documentation input into common program-controlled documents.
- Perform configuration status accounting and support audits to verify that requirements of all baselines have been met.
- Participate in joint stakeholder IPTs and team meetings.
- Identify, package, duplicate, and deliver release products to multiple fielded sites.
- Develop, organize, and write design documentation, procedure manuals, test procedures, reports, and technical specifications.
- Translate complex information into simple, polished, and engaging content for maximum usability.
What You Must Have
- 6 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in related field; 4 years relevant experience with a Master's in related field; or High School Diploma and 10 years relevant experience.
- Ability to write system engineering reports, software development reports, manuals, and presentations.
- Ability to define manageable CM processes and implement them.
- Proficient in CM tools, including JIRA, GitLab, and other CI/CD tools.
- Familiarity with media duplicating tools and software.
- Ability to evaluate the current environment and propose a recommended CM solution.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, Excel, Windows, and Linux operating systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with technical teams and proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
Work Environment
Position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required. Ability to travel up to 10%, with occasional multi-day OCONUS travel required, and must have a valid US Passport.
Security Clearance
Must be a US citizen, currently hold and able to maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance.
Bonus Points For...
- Three years of experience in establishing and maintaining consistent product performance.
- Active or current DoD Top Secret SCI Clearance.
- Experience in Joint Simulation Environment (JSE).
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word.
Physical Requirements
