A law firm seeks an experienced Immigration Attorney specializing in legal writing to join its team in Las Vegas, NV. This role is ideal for a highly skilled attorney with a strong background in appellate work, particularly in drafting memorandums, appeals, and motions to reopen for immigration-related matters. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of experience and a focus on preparing legal briefs and filings for EOIR, the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and federal circuit courts. Duties:
- Draft memorandums, appeals, motions to reopen, and other legal documents related to immigration appellate work.
- Prepare and file appeals before the EOIR, BIA, and federal circuit courts.
- Research, draft, and submit motions to reopen complex immigration cases, requiring detailed legal analysis and strategy.
- Handle cases involving Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, analyzing the documents to support legal strategies and appeals.
- Work closely with the legal team to craft compelling case arguments, especially for clients facing removal proceedings or seeking relief.
- Stay informed of updates in immigration law, focusing on those relevant to appellate cases and federal courts.
- Maintain well-organized case files, ensuring compliance with both court and firm procedures.
Requirements:
- At least 4-5 years of experience in immigration law, with a particular focus on legal writing and appellate work.
- Demonstrated expertise in drafting appeals for EOIR, BIA, and federal circuit courts.
- Experience in handling motions to reopen and FOIA-related cases.
- Strong writing and research skills, with a track record of producing high-quality legal documents.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Familiarity with case management software is preferred.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in the bar association of the jurisdiction in which the attorney will practice.
