Position Information
Position Title: Coordinator, Academic Success Center/Writing Lab
Department Name: Academic Success Center
Full Time / Part Time: Full Time
Scheduled Work Week / Hours: Monday through Friday 8:30am-4:30pm/35 hours per week (may involve evening and weekend hours as required)
Position Overview: The Coordinator of Academic Success/Writing Lab assists with providing coordination and support in the area of academic excellence and success working with a team of professionals to offer students an array of learning and tutorial services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of and facilitate the tutorial services in the Writing Lab including oversight.
- Coordinate recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, support, and evaluation of student writing and peer tutors.
- Provide ongoing training for tutors consistent with best practices in the field.
- Assist with coordinating and facilitating innovative academic support initiatives from the Academic Success Center.
- Work with Director and Assistant Director on delivery of peer subject tutoring as needed.
- Collaborate with the Director of the Writing Program and specified faculty liaisons to develop and facilitate strategic initiatives.
- Consult with other academic departments to develop and implement appropriate writing support and services.
- Participate in key college events.
- Collaborate with other offices to support the advisement and support services of students.
- Create and maintain webpages, marketing materials, and social media for the Academic Success Center.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of services to assess effectiveness and guide planning.
- Refer students and faculty to learning and support services on campus as appropriate.
- Maintain awareness of changes in academic requirements and college policies.
- Participate in divisional meetings and retreats.
Occasional Duties
- Work evening and weekend hours as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Academic Success Center.

- Ability to work with computer-based systems and software.
Required Qualifications
- M.A. in English, Composition, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting tutor training.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of teaching writing at the secondary or higher levels.
- Understanding of student development theory.
- Counseling and conflict de-escalation skills.
