General Statement: Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide non-tenurable level instruction and/or related functions.

Duties and Responsibilities: Typically, instructors teach WRIT 221-Technical Writing

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills:

  • A master’s degree in English, Professional or Technical Writing, or a closely-related field
  • Successful experience teaching writing, especially technical or professional writing
  • Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Degree focus and teaching experience in Technical Writing
  • Professional experience as a technical writer
  • Commitment to supporting, promoting, and building an inclusive and culturally diverse campus environment

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching toward program-wide student learning outcomes
  • Bring innovative, real-world technical writing genres to classroom practices
  • Possess a willingness to participate in faculty development activities in support of best-practice based instruction
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information
  • Possess the ability to teach in a diverse university community and have the potential to help students from diverse backgrounds succeed
