Position Responsibilities:
The University of Idaho seeks to hire a Full Professor for a tenured fiscal year Extension faculty (Area Educator or Specialist) appointment to serve as Associate Director. The duties for this position are detailed below in the administrative summary section of this posting.
The Associate Director is responsible for statewide coordination of the University of Idaho Extension programs, system-wide program planning, and accountability including preparation of the plan of work, coordination of professional development, and evaluation of Extension programs. The Associate Director provides leadership and coordination of statewide agriculture programs.
The Associate Director reports to the Associate Dean and Director, University of Idaho Extension. This position receives an administrative stipend which is a percentage of the base faculty salary to do this work.
“At the University of Idaho, all academic administrative positions require 60 days written notice to reassign the administrative duties. Employee acknowledges and agrees that in the event they are no longer serving in this administrative role, as determined by University in its sole discretion, University may change this agreement and the employee may return to their faculty appointment within the unit, upon 60 days written notice. That means, if the administrative duties are reassigned, the 15% administrative stipend associated with this role would be removed and the remaining would be the faculty base salary.”
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Degree Required:
- A Ph.D. with at least one Master’s degree in the field of agriculture and/or natural resources.
- Must hold the rank of tenured full professor or their equivalent at an accredited university program.
- Minimum of five years of work experience with Extension program development, personnel leadership and program administration.
- Experience with the mission of the land-grant university.
- Experience working in a team, managing and promoting programs and resources.
- Experience leading teams, empowering others to succeed, and fostering respect.
- Experience communicating, engaging, partnering, and collaborating with stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience serving as an Extension faculty member in the agriculture area.
- Documented success of grantsmanship and/or securing external funding.
- Degree or formal training in evaluation.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Willingness and ability to travel to meet position responsibilities.
- Valid Driver’s License.
