The AWS Kumo UX team is looking for a highly experienced and motivated mixed-methods UX researcher to raise the bar on UX research at Amazon. This role will be responsible for designing and conducting UX research primarily in the early stages of the design and product cycle, with a focus on generative research to understand user needs, customer journey mapping, understanding pain points with existing solutions, and evaluation of early concepts and prototypes.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Conduct generative and evaluative research using appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods to produce actionable insights.
  2. Synthesize research insights and distill them into compelling narratives that frame problems, illuminate customer needs, and lead to relevant and actionable ideation spaces.
  3. Guide cross-functional partners on the execution of research studies and the delivery of results.
  4. Advocate for innovative ideas that will delight our customers, building cross-functional alignment and driving decision-making.
  5. Present research findings and recommendations to stakeholders across varied levels.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years conducting UX research, across a variety of development life cycle stages.
  • Master’s degree and/or PhD in psychology, cognitive science, human factors, HCI or similar.
  • Skilled in generative and evaluative research methods, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Excellent written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Solid understanding of the software development cycle.
  • Basic understanding of Cloud Services (AWS).
  • Experience conducting research with technical audiences.
  • Basic understanding of AI / Generative AI technology.
  • Experience conducting UX research in the domain of AI/GenAI experiences.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
