Position Description
U.S. Soccer is seeking an experienced content and strategy expert to lead content for the U.S. Women's National Team, telling the story of the Best of U.S. in all forms.
The individual in this role will be responsible for creating content strategies and concepts in a variety of formats and mediums for different distribution channels delivered throughout the year and for tentpole events. Additionally, this individual will design the strategies to deepen fan engagement, grow reach, increase relevancy and drive revenue
In addition to storytelling, this individual will need to develop and execute strategies to support the Federation's commercial efforts: growing Insiders, driving ticket sales, supporting kit launches, working with U.S. Soccer's partners, etc... Ideating a strategy to tell the story of match day, while integrating and supporting commercial efforts.
We are seeking someone relationship driven with the ability to collaborate, communicate and build trust with different departments, internal and external stakeholders to manage the development of the content strategy throughout its entire lifecycle. Ability to build and manage relationships is key.
This individual will need to be versatile, nimble and poised under pressure with the ability to problem solve in real time.
Travel to team events, camps and games will be required.
At times, the individual in this role will assist with other Federation programs including but not limited to Youth National Teams, Professional Leagues, Open Cup, Coaching, Refereeing, Membership and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities
- Generate annual content plan for the Women's National Team to deliver on USSF strategy and strategic partner objectives.
- Build and distribute content plans for tentpole events to internal and external stakeholders in lead up to campaigns or key energy moments.
- This includes content in a variety of formats for a variety of platforms.
- The ability to identify ahead of time storylines to capture and tell.
- Lead brainstorm sessions to develop new content ideas campaigns and energy moments.
- Plan out the capture, editing and execution of content series, working in tandem with different departments that will be involved in the process.
- Build production timeline for content series and distribute to internal stakeholders.
- Manage the in-camp content team (video, photo, social) to ensure execution on content strategy.
- Work collaboratively with other key stakeholders to manage projects to budget
- Collaborate with Social Media and Brand on graphic elements.
- Work with analytics and insights to refine and optimize content plans throughout the year based on data, narrative shifts, storylines and/or partner needs.
- Work with analytics and insights to understand key audience drivers and incorporate them into planning and content ideation.
- Serve as lead between content team and partnership marketing to ensure our ability to maximize value to partners.
- Partner with Sr. Director Content & Digital on the development of the department's annual content strategy in alignment with Marketing and Federation goals.
- Partner with marketing leads on paid media planning (when applicable) to amplify and extend reach for U.S. Soccer and our partners.
- Ensure content is consistent in terms of quality, style, brand expression, and tone of voice across platforms to optimize user experience and contribute to the overall brand identity of U.S. Soccer.
- Align with Communications and Sporting Departments on key messaging strategies and opportunities for efficiency.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years experience managing digital content storytelling.
- Used to performing and exceling in fast-paced environments, while under pressure.
- A self-starter capable of taking initiative and leading a team.
- An audience-led strategist, using data to develop best practices.
- Ability to balance short-term deliverables with long-term projects in concurrent workstreams.
- Capable of working with a large number of stakeholders.
- Background or experience working for a media/news company is helpful.
- Able and willing to travel, in addition to working non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends as needed. Travel will be up to 40% of the time
- When not traveling, able to work out of U.S. Soccer's future headquarters in Atlanta, GA
- Discretion. This roll will be privy to confidential information.
- Passion for soccer and growing the game in the U.S.
- Digital and new media acumen - Ability to stay at the forefront of digital content innovations and trends.
- Experience crafting, ideating branded content series that authentically fit a brand.
