DISTRICT ATTORNEY
Performs a variety of professional and specializedcommunications and media relations work to develop and implement theCommunications department for the Office of the District Attorney. Responsible for all communication materials,press releases, public service announcements, and editorials for the office andis the primary contact for all communication.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (The followingessential job functions and examples of duties are illustrative only and arenot intended to be all inclusive.) Drafts and edits press releases for cases that requiremedia attention. Proactively checks with prosecutors and victim witnessadvocates for requests on media. Prepares press events and interviews involving theoffice as requested. Generates weekly report via the tracker to check statusof important cases. Confers with other organizations, legislators, and othercommunity leaders regarding specialty media. Maintains the general inbox and forwards inquiries tothe appropriate staff and ensures appropriate responses. Arranges community outreach events and meetings thatinvolve the office and/or the District Attorney. Recognizes and organizes opportunities for public andmedia appearances. Maintains the social media content and ongoing strategy.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works directly for the District Attorney; work assignments are in the form of on-going areas of responsibility and/or generally defined developmental projects.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Plans, directs, and evaluates the work activities of assigned personnel.
SCOPE OF INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts arewith superiors, office staff, media representatives, outside agencies' personneland involve confidential and/or highly sensitive issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree from anaccredited college or university in Communications, Public Relations, Marketingor a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of three(3) years of experience in public relations/affairs, media relations, andcommunication; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Extensive knowledge in public relations, mediarelations, social media and marketing. Must have the ability to problem solve effectively whenissues arise. Ability to establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with superiors, fellow workers, media representatives, andoutside agencies' personnel; ability to communicate effectively, both orallyand in writing, with same.
WORKENVIRONMENT: Work in the position is generally confined to a standard officeenvironment.

In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
