POSITION SUMMARY Feeding San Diego is looking for a creative storyteller and video journalist to join our team to expand our visual storytelling capabilities, specifically through organic social content creation and management and video production. This role will support our Marketing & Communications team in honing and expanding storytelling around Feeding San Diego’s critical hunger relief and food rescue programs and the inspiring community of San Diegans who make our mission possible. The role is focused on finding engaging and authentic ways to visually tell the stories from within our organization across owned and paid media channels and for internal and external use. The creator will be responsible for ideating, developing, and executing content across social platforms and creating short and long-form videos. This role will work directly within the Feeding San Diego network (this includes stakeholders such as neighbors who receive support from our programs, donors, volunteers, partners, and staff) to identify compelling stories and will use creative and technical skills to bring them to life using video, photo, graphics, or a well-timed meme or trending audio. The ideal candidate has a background in using digital mediums to create a wide range of stories, whether for social media, news segments, or film, and is open-minded, collaborative, and thinks video-first when it comes to storytelling. This role will be directly involved in developing creative campaign concepts and strategic plans for social media outlets and fundraising campaigns to effectively launch campaigns and steward our audiences through the funnel, ensuring alignment with marketing objectives and target audience engagement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Social Media Management Under the supervision of the Senior Communications Manager, lead social content ideation and creation and contribute to strategy This role creates all static and video content, writes captions, and schedules out content Own the content calendar and measurement framework with a focus on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube Work closely within the Feeding San Diego network (food donors, volunteers, agency partners, etc.) to assure content creation that is relevant and further supports the brand Develop content that is engaging, authentic, educational, on-brand, and people first across all channels Uphold an in-depth knowledge of various social media platforms and their features Act as on camera talent when needed With Senior Communications Manager, set goals and KPIs and report monthly on performance across all platforms and adjust when necessary Video Production End-to-end content creation, including video production, script writing, audio selection, copywriting, and video editing – from responsive, quick hits, to major, long-lead series Coordinate video production including scheduling interviews and b-roll shoots Upload all content to file sharing system (PhotoShelter) for internal and external use Proficiency with professional photography and videography equipment and editing software:

Must have Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro experience Must be comfortable using a DSLR/mirrorless camera, audio-recording devices, and professional lighting to capture photo and video

Collaboration This role will interact directly with the public, including with people who are food distribution partners of Feeding San Diego, volunteers for our organization, food donors, and the people who receive food from the organization’s hunger-relief programs Ability to show compassion is necessary when creating content around the impact that Feeding San Diego’s programs have Participate in Marketing & Communications department meetings to collaborate with other roles in the team (director of marketing & communications, senior digital marketing manager, brand manager, digital marketing manager) on content creation This role will also be attuned to the best practices of Feeding America, the national organization of which Feeding San Diego is a partner food bank of INTERACTION The position will interact closely with FSD employees, visitors, neighbors, volunteers, donors, and partner representatives. This position will also interact with all staff at Feeding San Diego. Qualifications: EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, particularly in journalism, media, communications, marketing, or advertising. And 1-3 years of experience creating content for an established brand. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Required Hands-on experience and expertise with social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts Experience with using social platforms to find opportunities to engage with existing and potential stakeholders Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adapt writing styles to suit our brand's voice and tone Experience using third party social media platforms such as Sprout Social, Canva, Cap Cut, etc. Proficiency with creative production programs including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects) and Canva, demonstrated through a portfolio of work Ability to meet deadlines and post to social media accounts in real time, with little need for oversight Design fluency coupled with excellent typography and visual design sensibilities The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and efficiently Microsoft 365 experience Asana, Smartsheet, Basecamp or other project management system experience Act as a collaborative team player who can take constructive feedback on their work and adjust accordingly Ability to understand organizational needs, including general business strategy, industry issues, key stakeholders, and giving trends Preferred Experience working cross functionally with teams in a non-profit setting (development, programs, volunteer, etc.) Existing non-profit experience working in marketing and communications Strong examples showcasing multimedia content creation TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Personal computer, phone & Adobe Creative Suite subscription, copier, and printer. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agency’s insurance carrier standards. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: Work in an office adjacent to a warehouse setting with occasional travel to other locations in San Diego County. Prioritizes and multi-task work and projects requiring good memory, concentration, and analytical thinking. Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation of office equipment and machines and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet but this office is maintained in a distribution center with machinery and large trucks.
