Northwestern University is seeking a temporary Publications Editor for the Evanston campus.
Temporary Job Description:
- Editor of assigned projects. Includes substantive editing of client-supplied copy for accuracy, clarity, consistency, organization, flow, usage, concision, and conformity with University standards and Chicago Manual of Style; if necessary, rewriting; preparing copy for designers
- Editorial review and proofreading of each assigned project and editorial review of printer proofs for each assigned project;
- backup editorial reviews for projects assigned to other OGMC publications editors
- Coordinator/manager of assigned projects. Includes coordinating print estimates with the production manager; determining-with the production manager, project designer, and/or publications director-project schedules; providing estimates, schedules, and project updates to clients; scheduling and leading client meetings, including initial meetings and design presentations
- Working knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign) for Mac
- Knowledge of the print publication process
- Exceptional editing skills
- Ability to consistently adhere to deadlines
- Sound interpersonal communication skills
