What You'll Do
The Galaxie Library is currently seeking an energetic, innovative full-time (40 hours per week) Youth Services Librarian with strong customer service skills to develop a broad range of programming for youth from birth through school-age. The person in this role will model and support positive caregiver/child interaction, and reach out to build relationships with families, schools, and youth-focused organizations in a diverse community. This work involves engaging the community to understand cultural values, trends and needs and how these influence library services to youth in the Apple Valley community.
All Dakota County Librarians provide information services, reading suggestions, and research services to assist library customers of all ages in finding information. The Librarian will assist the public in the use of digital resources and provide technology instruction. Librarians engage with people inside the library and out in the community to promote library services and print/digital resources through the development and delivery of programs, community outreach to target audiences, and public relations. The person in this role may be responsible for collection management and resource recommendation for assigned collection areas. The librarian works under the supervision of a Branch Manager.

Minimum Qualifications
•Master's Degree in Library and Information Science
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•1 year public library experience
•Experience integrating community needs and interests into effective library services and programs
•Experience with youth development
•Experience conducting community outreach and building relationships with youth-focused organizations
•Experience working with diverse populations and customers with limited English proficiency
