Job Description

As a Social Media Investigator, you will be responsible for leveraging social media platforms to monitor, analyze, and uncover critical information related to investigations and legal cases. You will apply your expertise in social media navigation and digital research tools to support various business operations.

Requirements:

Duties Include:

  • Conduct thorough investigations and research on social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit, and emerging platforms.
  • Monitor online activity to identify trends, potential risks, and social sentiment, providing reports and actionable insights.
  • Analyze posts, profiles, and interactions to gather critical data, including potential threats, fraud, or inappropriate behavior.
  • Support internal teams with evidence collection, digital forensic work, and threat assessments by using social media as a primary data source.
  • Collaborate with legal compliance teams to provide accurate information related to ongoing investigations and cases.
  • Stay up-to-date with platform updates, new tools, and social media trends to enhance investigative methods.
  • Create detailed reports and summaries of findings, ensuring compliance with privacy and data protection laws.
  • Ability to juggle multiple research reports at once while maintaining work quality and turnaround time while communicating effectively with Intel supervisor.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and distill large amounts of information from social networking profiles and online forms and articles, and apply it to an investigation.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in OSINT, social media investigation, or digital investigation.
  • Proficiency in navigating various social media platforms and understanding their privacy settings and security features.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong telecommunication skills.
  • Empathetic, caring, and persuasive communication skills.
  • Fluency in the use of computer systems including email programs, internet usage, customer relationship management systems, and proven ability to apply computer skills to new systems.
  • Self-starter with the ability to effectively manage multiple matters at once.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Supervisors – Reports to the Forensic Manager.

Status – Full-time, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Location – Beautiful office environment at the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center, across from South Coast Plaza.

Salary – Starting at $65k, depending on experience.
