Job Summary
Middle School Music Teacher and High School Assistant grades 5-12
The Tracy Learning Center is looking to expand our music offerings. This teaching role is still being defined and is currently in a stage where the person hired will have some input in the final job description and responsibilities. A factor in this program's direction will be to complement the already established high school program and facilitate the transition from middle to high school. This role will be created in conjunction with the high school director.
Middle school grades 5/6, this position will include teaching music fundamentals through the use of more accessible instruments like boom whackers, handbells, recorders, and bucket drumming.
Middle school grades 7/8, this position will be responsible for small groups of traditional band instruments (Flute, Trumpet, etc. pullouts). This will include teaching beginners or second year students to continue their music education.
These middle school programs will participate in performances and events with the high school to demonstrate their progress.
High School grades 9-12, This position will work as an assistant director in the High School. This will include working in conjunction with the high school head director to provide more individual instruction to the high school program during school hours and after school concerts, sectionals, and rehearsals. This position will also involve assisting the head director for marching band rehearsals, parades, competitions, and events along with after school winter percussion/winter guard activities that the program participates in.
