The New York Post is seeking a full-time Long Island Reporter to cover political and governmental happenings in Nassau County.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the political makeup on Long Island, particularly Nassau County, and have the right sourcing to deliver exclusives. They will have good news judgement when it comes to pitching the right stories for The Post and be eager to break news and write sharp, impactful copy.

Pay Range: $67,000 - $82,000

Responsibilities:
- Pitch and write engaging political stories, ranging from top news out of a legislative hearing to new policies that could take shape in Nassau County.
- Build deep sources on the local and county government level but also within the community.
- File at least one political story a day, while also reporting out exclusives in the background.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience in a breaking news setting, preferably with a focus on local politics
- A sharp writer who can deliver clean, coherent copy in The Post's signature style
- Exceptional news-gathering skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate relationships with sources and community members
- Knowledge of Nassau County neighborhoods, culture, and lifestyle a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced newsroom environment
- Passionate about making a meaningful impact by sharing stories that resonate with millions of readers across the city and beyond
