ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following and other duties that may be assigned. Provides excellent service to customers who place a bet in the Sports Book area. Ensure that all customers understand the various type of wagers, displays patience with novice customers, and engages in friendly conversations with all customers. Processes all cash transactions quickly and accurately.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS & QUALIFICATIONS

Functions:

•Greets customers; inputs betting information into computer; prints ticket; accepts money and gives ticket and change to customers.

•Accurately maintains bank.

•Verifies winning tickets.

•Handles and solves any concerns and questions by customers.

•Explains wagering information when needed.

•Maintains and updates Betting Boards or Televisions for customers to view.

•Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.

Qualifications:

•Sports enthusiast with an interest in horse racing and sports activities.

•Mathematically inclined and the ability to pass a math test.

•Demonstrated ability of good handwriting skills

•Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills.

•Must be able to work any day and any shift.

•Ability to get along with co-workers and work as a team.

•Must present a well-groomed appearance.

SOCIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Must have an outgoing, energetic and enthusiastic attitude. Must be comfortable initiating conversations and creating a fun environment with our guests.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma required. At least 6 months previous cash handling experience required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must qualify for, obtain and maintain a gaming license from the Indiana Gaming Commission. Must be able to qualify for and may be required to obtain and maintain an Indiana Horse Racing Commission License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Diverse, fast-paced, deadline driven, multi-project coordination, prioritizing and flexing to accommodate last minute requests and changes.

•Must be able to work independently.

•Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time (minimum 4-6 hours).

•Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions, when handling guest and employee conflicts.

•Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator.

•Responds to visual and aural cues.

•Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.

•Must be able to tolerate areas containing second-hand smoke, dust, loud noises and bright lights.

•Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
